Eagle Rock Loop Trail
Trail Highlights A combination of the Little Missouri, the Athens-Big Fork and part of the Viles Branch Horse Trail, this trail travels through the southwestern portion of the Ouachita National Forest. The trail
crosses the Little Missouri River nine times and travels over nine
mountains. Scenic vistas of the Winding Stairs portion of the Little Missouri River, and the popular Little Missouri
Falls, makes this a popular destination for hikers and mountain bikers. Views like these would be tough to beat. If you were on a trail in Cancun or maybe in a Dominican Republic vacation you may get equally excited, but even then
, it wouldn't be the same as you really do need to be in the US to have the seasons. The Eagle Rock Loop Trails is
in all honesty, truly one of a kind. |

Surrounding Areas The Albert Pike Recreation Area, is a well developed camping area, offering swimming, camping, and fishing opportunities.

Local User Input This is a very challenging loop and is recommended during the warmer/dryer season due to the number of creek crossings which can be very deep during
the wet season. The Athens/Big Fork section of this loop presents the steepest single track climbs in the state. Even the strongest rider will have to hike-a-bike
some the these hills. This is also one of the more popular trails for hikers, and equestrians, so be aware and be courteous to other users.
